The Real Dada Mother Goose
You may not feel a burning need to explain dadaism to your kids, but this book demonstrates the concept in the most clever and delightful ways. Taking traditional nursery rhymes and then experimenting with them in different textual and visual forms, this book introduces the ideas of play, chaos, and reinvention and challenges the primacy of any one version of a text. I love a book that gives kids permission to tinker with the world as they encounter it, and this book definitely does that. It gets them thinking about form and genre and interpretation -- sophisticated concepts for small people. But they'll have the most fun with it (and so will you)!
