If you have been itching to get an immersive start to calligraphy, this is your class! Students will be given a brief history of Copperplate script, an overview of tools and materials, and instruction on how to use them. After learning some basic strokes using a traditional steel nib and oblique pen holder, students will delve into learning the lowercase letters, and after a lunch break, finish the day with learning uppercase as well as envelope addressing instruction. Students will leave class with detailed exemplars and guide sheets for practice at home as well as all the supplies provided. No calligraphy experience (or good handwriting!) needed, though advanced or intermediate students will also benefit from guidance by an experienced instructor. Supplies are included in the cost of tuition.
Lunch can be found in the form or pizza or sandwiches at some nearby spots, or feel free to bring a sack lunch.
