Given that To the Lighthouse gobsmacked me my freshman year of college and has haunted me ever since, it was inevitable that I fall hard for Kyo Maclear and Isabelle Arsenault's children's book based loosely on Virginia Woolf's life. Vanessa is present, as well as a magical world called "Bloomsberry", and also depression in the guise of wolfish behavior. As such a masterful writer, Woolf no doubt presents a formidable subject, but this book does not disappoint. It is beautiful and sensitive and clever and moving. A masterpiece quite worthy of its subject.
