A book for slightly older kids, this story follows Otilla through the woods until she arrives at a very old, locked-up house and meets a skull. The skull befriends Otilla, and they are only interrupted by the arrival of a headless skeleton looking for a skull. The skull does not want to unite with this skeleton, so Otilla takes matters into her own hands. Klassen's illustrations are moody and evocative, and it's a story well worth puzzling over with your little person.
