Just Like Heaven

Being a mom of little people, I read a lot of picture books. And I often find them ever as applicable to adult experience as to anything kids go through.  For instance, in a picture book by Patrick McDonnell that I adore, Mooch the cat falls asleep under his favorite tree and wakes to a world so covered in thick fog, he assumes he is somewhere else entirely -- and decides that he's in heaven. Walking through this misty dreamland, he is enchanted and charmed by so many small delights... dew on his feet, sweet music in the trees, laughter from...

New Studio Updates

Hello again!  I've been on what has turned out to be an extremely long hiatus from this little spot.  Much has changed in my life over the past few months (for starters, I live in Nebraska now), and while things are a long way from normal, I'm starting to feel ever so mildly settled and ready to resume some of my once-regular routines -- beginning with some very important updates! Stop the Presses!

Business

You will never believe what this is: My building.  You heard me right!  My building!!?! A building that will become a studio space, shop, workshop, and second home.  I am smitten and scared.  Today felt entirely suitable for signing all the final paperwork for such an undertaking:  my spirits are so high above the ground that I can't help but shout, "Mayday!  Mayday!" when I look down.  But hopefully I will learn, in good time, all that I need to in order to pilot this operation smoothly. More soon!

The Happy Mailbox: Rifle Paper Co.

Business Stationery

Every time I go to a stationery and paper goods store, you can bet I come away with a disproportionate number of cards created by the flawless Anna Bond from Rifle Paper Co.  Her work is spirited, clever, and always artistically spot-on.  If I had to choose just one designer to supply all of my paper goods for the rest of my life, I would choose her without a moment's hesitation.  And I recently learned that Rifle is branching out to produce iPhone cases!  I have been searching high and low for a case for my new phone to rival...
