Well, hello there! I had intended, when starting this blog, to update it three times a week. Ha! When setting goals, I magically tend to forget about those stretches of time when the days darken, when the temperatures impose, when the work piles up, when writing -- as much as I want to be doing it -- needs to wait. I have felt off the grid, so to speak, but I am back on -- literally! -- as you can see here. Har har. I'm not sure I am reemerging exactly. I have about two months of ample work stretching in front of me, which will keep me occupied well into the corners of my evenings and weekends, but I do hope to be more present here nonetheless. Fingers crossed... The script above is something I'm working on for my next broadside. I'm not where I want to be -- I want the script to look more like old-fashioned handwriting (while still easily legible) and what I've got is too clean right now and too close to the standard Copperplate. Guess it's back to the drawing board for the time being -- luckily not a bad place to be. Focusing on little, tiny, perfect grids is proving to be a great relief as major upheavals are on the horizon: I graduated! My little family is tentatively planning to move this year! I will be starting a new chapter of my life and career and am not remotely sure what that's going to look like in the specifics! It's a lot to take in all at once -- like staring into the blank white abyss of a new sheet of paper. A grid may not dictate what happens upon it, but it's at least a place to begin, an illusion of control. For now, I'll take it.
